August 12, 2022, WASHINGTON, DC – The Board of Asian American Action Fund (AAAFund) voted to endorse Representative Yuh-Line Niou in her bid for New York’s 10th Congressional District.
Assemblywoman Niou, currently serving New York’s Assembly District 65, is a fierce champion for low-income, immigrant, and working families across New York. Thanks to redistricting, New York’s 10th Congressional District now includes Chinatown and Sunset Park, two of New York City’s largest AAPI neighborhoods. This district needs someone from the AAPI community to represent them and Assemblywoman Niou has proven herself a longtime advocate for New Yorkers of all backgrounds.
If elected, she would become New York’s second-ever AAPI representative in Congress and the first autistic member of Congress.
“Yuh-Line is a loyal and undaunted fighter. She shows us again and again that she listens to our community and all marginalized communities, then goes to bat for us all,” said Jeff Roh, AAAFund Board Member. “Our basic rights come increasingly under attack by the Republican Party and we need frontline defenders like Yuh-Line to lead us through this dark period.”
“Young advocates like Yuh-Line are the future of the Democratic Party. Yuh-Line has demonstrated an impressive capacity for creative, inclusive, and effective policy-making. Not only is she a fighter, but a builder as well: she secured funding to build her community up and push back against anti-Asian violence. In doing so, she has earned their trust and ours. Yuh-Line will be a tireless champion of our community in Congress and we endorse her wholeheartedly.” said Irene Bueno, AAAFund Endorsements Co-Chair.
