National Asian American Democratic PAC supports up and coming star in St. Louis suburbs

The Asian American Action Fund (www.aaafund.org), a national Democratic PAC, proudly supports Cort VanOstran for Congress for Missouri’s Second Congressional District, which has a significant Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) population at 5 percent. Cort VanOstran is a dynamic young lawyer and lecturer at Washington University who is running on access to health care, a major concern of the AAPI community and of the Second Congressional District, which is home to many health care professionals. In recent polling, Van Ostran leads Rep. Wagner by 2 points and he has outraised her for most of the campaign cycle.

Cort VanOstran said, “I’m so honored to receive the Asian American Action Fund’s endorsement and to have the support of local Asian American leaders. I’m running for Congress because I’m determined to put the people of Missouri before establishment politics. I’m here to work hard, listen to residents of the district, and to discuss issue priorities including health care, education, jobs, and immigration.”

Cort was born and raised in small town Missouri, the son of a flight paramedic and a substitute teacher. When Cort was eight years old, his father died, leaving his mother to raise him and his younger brother and sister. Cort graduated from public school and went to Harvard on scholarship. A few years ago, his mom died of breast cancer, which has led him to focus on making sure that other families can afford the steep costs of health care.
