June 27, 2022,  WASHINGTON, DC – The Board of the Asian American Action Fund is devastated by the Supreme Court’s ruling to strike down Roe v. Wade and strip people of their right to control their own bodies.

This decision by the Court rolls back fifty years of settled precedent and reveals the dangerous right-wing politicization of our judiciary. It is the result of a persistent, aggressive assault on women’s rights and marks one of the only times in American history in which the Supreme Court ruled to restrict a constitutional right. We know that this ruling will disproportionately harm communities of color and low income persons who seek reproductive care and give birth.

As states across the country move swiftly to enact laws banning abortion, the ruling underscores how fragile progress is and how few of our rights are truly safe. As Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, we understand through our history what it means to move through life here with only a tenuous hold on our fundamental rights. We stand unequivocally with our friends and partners on the frontlines of fighting for reproductive justice.

The Asian American Action Fund has always been committed to electing a pro-choice leaders in Congress and in state and local governments across the country. Today, the stakes are higher and clearer than ever before. Abortion is still legal in most states and we encourage people who need reproductive care to visit For our friends and allies with means, we encourage you to donate to and volunteer for abortion funds supporting Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and Asian American communities.
