Recent issues Access to Education

AAA Fund’s mission is to ensure equal political, educational, social, and economic rights for all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination. A critical focus of this mission is to support equal access to educational opportunities. As an organization, AAA Fund supports well-tailored affirmative action admissions policies. Numerous studies have shown that diversity provides a richer learning environment and better prepares students to thrive in an increasingly diverse workforce. Schools with diversity are able to break down racial stereotypes and teach cross-racial understandings of issues.

AAA Fund distinguishes between affirmative action and unconstitutional negative action, a system whereby a school discriminates against one racial group to favor other minority students. The AAPI community faces substantial economic and educational disparities. As a Brookings Institution study reported, “The Asian groups faring poorly are those living in areas with poorer quality schools—similar, in fact, to those in which African Americans live.” A diverse non-discriminatory educational environment is crucial for the AAPI communities.
