Helen Gym

The Asian American Action Fund proudly endorses Helen Gym for Philadelphia City Council At-Large. As the first Asian American woman to serve in Philadelphia’s City Council, we have no doubt that Helen will continue to fight for our communities and for civil rights.

“Rooted in community organizing and social justice, Helen has championed important causes across Philadelphia including economic justice, immigrant protections, and advocating for public education policies and safe schools. Throughout her time in office, she has been a strong advocate and progressive voice for the Asian American Pacific Islander community and for building solidarity beyond our community,” said Caroline Fan, AAAF Board Member and former Endorsements Chair. “We are honored to continue to support Helen in her re-election campaign and to promote AAPI women leaders in transforming political representation at all levels of government.”

Helen made national headlines for opposing the Muslim Ban, for passing one of the strongest scheduling labor laws in the nation, and addressing racism post Charlottesville on the front page of the New York Times.
