FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Asian American Action Fund (AAAFund) proudly endorses Sara Gideon, Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives, for United States Senate. AAAFund is a Democratic PAC that has successfully supported over 200+ Asian American Pacific Islander candidates for office, including 40 women.
AAAFund Co-Founder Paul Tiao stated, “We support Speaker Gideon for Senate. As the daughter of an Indian immigrant and granddaughter of Armenian refugees, she understands the arc of the American Dream and fights for equal opportunity. Time and time again she stood up for working families and women, by championing ground breaking legislation to improve access to healthcare, job training, and economic support.”
AAAFund Board Member Caroline Fan added, “Sara’s life of public service demonstrates strong leadership. She has won tough fights for women’s right to choose, access to Medicaid, and affordable prescription drug prices. Her policy making is deeply rooted in empathy and reflect the needs of Maine residents, including her efforts to get paid family and medical leave.”
Maine Speaker of the House Sara Gideon said, “Mainers deserve a U.S. Senator who will proudly stand up and be a voice for all communities by listening to their concerns, standing up for their values, and putting their interests ahead of lobbyists and wealthy corporate donors. From supporting working families to addressing the opioid crisis, that promise has guided my work in the State House. I’m so proud of have the endorsement of the Asian American Action Fund, and I promise that in the U.S. Senate, I will always put the interests of our people — including our AAPI community — first.”
