National AAPI Groups Host Election Cycle Debrief on Critical AAPI Vote

WASHINGTON, DC — On Wednesday, Asian American Action Fund, ASPIRE PAC, Asian American Power Network, and National AAPI Power Fund hosted an election cycle debrief to discuss the growing influence of the AAPI community in Democratic politics.
“AAPI voters played an undeniable role in shaping the midterm elections and delivering a decisive Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate,” said Albert Shen, National Chair of the Asian American Action Fund (AAAFund). “But the AAPI vote is not a monolith – and in order to ensure success in 2024, the Democratic party must continue to devote more resources towards recruiting AAPI candidates and increasing AAPI voter turnout. We look forward to working together to ensure our AAPI candidates, representatives, and communities have a seat at the table.”
“The AAPI community is the fastest-growing community of color in the country and played a decisive role in Democratic victories in the 2020 presidential election and the 2022 midterm elections. But our party cannot take the AAPI vote for granted,” said ASPIRE PAC Chair Grace Meng. “This past election, ASPIRE PAC was proud to invest in meaningful outreach to AAPI voters in battleground districts. This debrief was an important reminder that we must continue to grow our efforts. We look forward to partnering with our allies on even more meaningful engagement with Asian American voters, who will be critical to winning races up and down the ballot in November 2024.”

“AAPI voters are moving from marginalized to the margin of victory, and conversations such as these are critical for laying the groundwork to further understand this ever-growing and complex voting bloc,” said Asian American Power Network Executive Director Nadia Belkin. “AAPI voters are not a monolith and for too long our community has not received enough attention, despite being critical voters who will continue to play a key role in our elections. We are building permanent infrastructure because we know our perspectives, lived experiences, and concerns need to be part of the conversation. Attention to our community cannot be limited to election cycles – we must use these conversations to continue investment in year round organizing strategies that build both trust and power within the community.”
