The Board of the Asian American Action Fund Congratulates Representative Ted Lieu on His Historic Election to Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 2, 2022, WASHINGTON, DC – The Board of the Asian American Action Fund (AAAFund) congratulates Representative Ted Lieu on his historic election to Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus. Representative Lieu has long been an important voice for the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in Congress and currently serves as the Whip in the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC). He will be the first Asian American elected to a House Leadership position.

The AAAFund Board issued the following statement in response:

“As longtime and early supporters of Representative Lieu, we are thrilled that the House Democratic Caucus elected our good friend to a leadership position. We believe such recognition is well-deserved. Representative Lieu has proven himself a strong and vocal advocate for our AAPI communities and we look forward to his ongoing efforts to uplift our communities’ priorities.

The 118th Congress has made history with Representative Lieu’s election to leadership, as well as those of Representatives Hakeem Jeffries, Katherine Clark, and Pete Aguilar. We congratulate this new generation of Democratic leaders and are excited to see a leadership team that reflects the diversity of our country and represents so many perspectives. We hope this progress continues and elevates diverse representation at every level of Congress.”
